There is an abundance of interesting and creative blogs currently on the internet. It seems that anyone and everyone is giving blogging a ‘try’. While blogging is an excellent way to spread information, ideas, concepts and our everyday feelings and opinions to the vast majority, there are many aspects to having a successful blog. While you do not have to be an outstanding writer you do need to be knowledgeable about your chosen topic/niche. It will always be easier to create a blog about your passion, something you enjoy, or have a desire for, or love doing.
Blog on a regular basis – at lease once or twice a week. There are many bloggers that post several times each day, while this is not necessary it is important that visitors to your blog see fresh content at regular intervals.
Quality content as opposed to posting frequently. The importance is in the content. Quality, informative content will hold a visitor to your site and also keep them coming back for more.
Comment on forums as opposed to spamming. Give valuable comments and provide help and advise to fellow forum members. Add benefit to the coversations.
Set up an RSS Feed. This is an excellent way for your loyal readers to know when you have published new content
Allowing comments on your blog is a great way to increase traffic. Responding to comments left on your blog shows you value their opinions and will also help to increase reader loyalty. Also leave comments on other blogs in your niche market to help drive traffic back to your site. It is very important that you leave valueable comments and don’t forget your URL.
It may only take a minute to add tags to your posts but it is worth the additional traffic that can be driven to your blog.
Search engins love tags, they also help readers find your blog when they are searching the internet.
Search Engine Optimization (SEO). Always include relevant keywords and links in yor posts but keep in mind not to overload your posts as this could be considered spamming resulting in negative results.
Submit your blog to some blog submission sites such as:
- Blogcatalogue
- Bloghub
- Blog Explosion
- Blog Carnival
there are many submission sites, just do a Google search and take your pick.
Images not only make your blog look more appealing they also help with search engine optimization, but keep in mind the images must be relevant.
Taking the time to also submit posts to social bookmarking sites such as :
- StumbleUpon
- Digg
and others will also help boost traffic to your site.
Put all or some of these steps into action and watch your traffic grow.
